Hi! Welcome to Trust and Belief. I’m Jess. This blog is an extension of my YouTube channel. I created both this blog and my channel to share my faith through the internet using Film and Spoken Word Poetry. I’ve been working for several months to figure out a way to combine all the things I love and want to share into one space, and think this is the perfect way.
I’ll tell you this right from the start. I really love Jesus. My favorite verse is John 15:13 “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Along with pursuing God, I also pursue excellence a variety of fine arts activities. You could definitely call me a fine arts person. I am a dancer, vocalist, and film student. I’m involved in my church’s choir and my church’s Broadway-style show at Christmas. Like many people my age, I spend a lot of time (probably too much honestly) on social media, and as long as I’m on it might as well use it to spread the gospel. I also love YouTube. Being a film student myself, I’ve always wanted to create a YouTube to work on my skills. The only problem was I had no idea what to make videos about. Then, I discovered Spoken Word.
A while back one of my youth leaders introduced me to Spoken Word Poetry and I loved it. I went home and looked up more spoken word poetry and every video I watched I loved it more. One Spoken Word artist in particular that has really inspired me was Jon Jorgenson. (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheAnimaSeries) His videos really showed me it is possible to spread the gospel through YouTube. I have never believed that I was a good writer, but I really wanted to try my hand at this. I knew that if I was meant to write Spoken Word, God would give me the words to write and he did. I decided to sit down one day and just write and I wrote my first poem I was really proud of. From that poem more ideas and poems have come. Once I wrote them, I knew they would do no good just sitting in my notebook. So, I created my channel and I created this blog and now I’m sitting here writing this to tell you all about it.
I pray that I can portray how awesome God is through my words, and that you will be encouraged by God’s love for you everyday. I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me and I am excited to have you come along for the ride.
To God be all the glory
